Prom Princess Yeyn

Prom season is still around the corner. Meet my 2nd Prom Princess, Yeyn. She is Sam's cousin...if you haven't seen my post about Sam's prom, read it here. Yeyn, was actually the first one to book her prom but had a later date - Feb 17. We met at Festival Mall Alabang around 2pm that day and went to their apartment at ParaƱaque to do her hair and makeup preparations. She sent me a photo of female celebrity Jessy Mendiola as her makeup peg and another photo with a messy up-do that she wanted for her hair.

Before and After. Yeyn's skin is a bit  oily so I prepper her skin very well. I used Celeteque moisturizer, L'oreal Base Magiue, L'oreal Trumatch Foundation and Encara BB Cream. We went for a Barbie-like look, which was similar to the photo she sent me beforehand.

Future Teachers Anne and Kazu for G. at Bb. Lasalyano 2012

Just when I was done doing makeup for my model during my Studio4104 Photo shoot, I got a call from a random number. It was Ms. Tina…my high school English teacher. She now teaches at La Salle Dasma and asked me to help their department. She asked if I could do hair and makeup for the representatives of the College of Education, Anne and Kazu for the 2012 G. at Bb. Lasalyano Competition. Fortunately, the dates she gave me weren’t booked yet, so I immediately said yes. (Thank you Ms. Tina for trusting my talent and for saying 'congratulations' when we spoke over the phone. Your appreciation means a lot to me. =) )
Due to some schedule mishaps and the unpredictable rain, I was advised that their parade and sportswear competition was cancelled, so I wasn’t able to help them on those events yet. But, I finally went to their coronation event held last Feb 16 at DLSU-D’s Ugnayanag La Salle gym.

Warning: I know almost all of my posts are photo-heavy, but this one's gonna be ultra heavy.. ;)
Before and After. Anne is wearing her first attire - water-inspired outfit. This may look too much, but the pageant stage has very strong and harsh lights so that's just about how make up is done. =) For her hair, I set-curled, let loose and pinned it to one side.

Studio4104 Shoot with Jhen and Ken

Hey everyone! How’s your February coming along? Mine’s been so much fun and exciting. Today, I’d like to share with you a photo shoot that I did 2 Fridays ago. My college batch mate, Jhen, who I apparently met only through FB, contacted me and asked me to do makeup for her with another fellow Lasallian and photographer, Kenneth. It was actually supposedly scheduled last month but I had another makeup gig so we had to reschedule. Then, Feb 10 came and we finally did it!  =) The shoot was at Studio4104 located at Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite.

I used pinks, blues and purple for her eyes. Peachy pink on her lips and a flush of peachy pink cheeks. Hair and Makeup by me. ;)

Prom Gig at Makati Shang

I think it has been over a week since I last blogged. I’ve been kind of busy with a lot of things - work and all.  I know I would really need to practice blogging more and in time, this sure will be a skill that I have developed (*winks and wishful thinking).
Honestly, I got a lot of things in my list that I’ve been pushing aside. Topics that I want to blog about, I mean.  I’ve got some huge hauls that from last year and things (hair and makeup products) that I purchased and want to share to you all, but they are so plenty that I’m lacking the courage and perseverance (Haha! Okay, patience) to engage myself in it. I still promise to make time to do it, though. ;)
So for now, what I want to share to you my dear readers (Aww, I would love to have more followers here but I thank all those who still make time in reading what I’d say, hihi) is my first ever prom princess. Another one for my firsts list.  Her name is Sam, a 4th yr student who is so giddy and all excited to attend her Senior Prom. Gosh! I could still remember when it was my time; I was all that excited too. We met at Alabang Town Center around after lunch and went to proceed to Makati Shangri-La Hotel to do the preps. I believe we arrived there a little past 2pm but we were only able to start doing the hair and makeup around almost 4pm. There were some problems with the booked room. But still, we got to finish before the event started. Unfortunately, due to all the rush and all, we weren’t able to take pictures together. Here are some few photos from that I was able to take that day. =)

Before and After. Just by looking at Sam's smile, you'll know how fun she is to be with. <3

BTS: Shine Severo Shoot

I'm back with another blog and this time, it’s about a client shoot I got invited to last Saturday. It was organized by the Bebelgum Project, a group of photographers based in Bacoor, Cavite who loves to do model shoots. I already got the chance to work with them months back. (Click here to see the photos.) In this shoot, I had the privilege to work with Mutya ng Bacoor 2010, Ms. Shine Severo.
Our shoot location was at an abandoned building somewhere in Bacoor. We did the hair and makeup prep at the SELECT Convenience Store (that of Shell Gas Station) near the place. Hihi. Doing prep at a convenience store would be another first for me. =) If you haven’t read about my post about
“firsts” just click this link.

Here's a before and after photo of what turned out after the hair and makeup. =)

I was advised ahead of time that since our location is gonna be an abandoned building and the prep is just a convenience store, I will not be able to use my hair tools because I can't plug it anywhere. So what I only brought was some hair products and set her hair with them.

Unboxing: Charm Flat Top Brush

Yaaaay!!! Look at what greeted me when I woke up last Friday!

A parcel from the mail! =)

My mom knocked on my door so hard enough that I got shocked and jumped out from bed. She then told me that a courier was downstairs with a parcel for me. Like a kid all excited for candies, I went with my postal ID on hand as I was sure I’d need it when claiming the item.
Yay! I knew it! My 2nd online purchase (ever) finally arrived. It was at dawn of Tuesday, the 31st of January while browsing through Facebook that I chanced upon a sale on the Charm Flat Top Brush for only Php500. The original retail price is Php 600 and what even more pushed me into doing this (impulse) purchase is that the sale was only till that day. Hahaha! And another thing that made it a better deal is Multiply’s free shipping promo through Xend which runs till first week of March. Yay to saving some more cash! Hihi.. Okay so let's proceed with the unboxing...

BTS: Sweet Edgy Photo Shoot + Mini Haul

Hello again! How was your Thursday? Mine was a so tiring but a lot of fun too. Just came home from a photo shoot at Alabang.
My model friend, Phoebe Rutaquio invited me to be part of a random weekday fun shoot as a makeup artist. Phoebe, instead of modeling, went behind the cam and took videos. She took step-by-step footage of me doing makeup on our model for the day, Tina. I believe they met each other as finalists of Meg Magazine’s Model Search last year. Our photographer Carlo, whom I’ve worked with a few times already allowed as at his house where we did the preps.
Sweet and edgy was our peg for this shoot. Phoebe showed me this photo of Katy Perry with a smokey eye look and sharp straight bob cut hair.

To make it more fit for daytime, I curled Tina’s hair and pinned them to set. Then I did her makeup using browns and purples to achieve a subtle smoke on her eyes. I used false lashes which I bought from Daiso. I’ll be featuring most of the items I used in my future post – a massive haul. So stay tuned for that.

Firsts on Feb First

Hello everyone! How are you all doing? It has been almost a year since I last updated my blog. Actually, I only got to write my first and only blog post last year. If you are interested to read it, click here.

And speaking of firsts, today being the 1st of February 2012 and my first attempt to update my blog, I intend to share to you a lot of firsts that I was blessed to have accomplished in the past year. In Chinese astrology, 2011 is the year of the rabbit. Similar to how rabbits move, my life hopped into its turning point as I was able to jump-start my career as a freelance Make-up artist. Blessings and opportunities came pouring and all I could think of is to be thankful.

First ever makeup gig. I got the chance to do sponsor makeup for a fashion event for a cause at SM DasmariƱas. Entitled “Let's Go Green”, male models wore shirts with photos and texts that support the campaign to help save the environment. The 3 female models, which I did makeup for on the other hand ramped with summer attires. My sister Ate Myra also went on-stage also to promote the Korean skincare product that I used, Encara BB Cream. This was my launching stint so I don’t think I’ll ever forget about this experience. My mom, sisters and brothers were also even there to support me. What a sweet family!

That's my Ate Myra ate the back, discussing the benefits of using Encara BB Cream. We both sponsored the event. ;)
